The winners of the National Film Awards 2023 are all set to be unveiled on August 24 at 5 PM. As the entire industry and fans nationwide eagerly await to hear the names of their favourite films and stars being announced on the special day, here is how you can watch the announcement live. Where to watch?
The announcement of the 69th edition of the National Film Awards is scheduled to begin at 5 PM. The winners will be announced during a press conference by the jury at the National Media Center, New Delhi. The event can be watched live on PIB India’s Facebook page and their YouTube channel as well.
Past winners
Last year, at the 68th National Film Awards, it was Ajay Devgn and Suriya who had won the Best Actor award for their performances in Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior and Soororai Pottru respectively. Suriya’s co-star Aparna Balamurali had won the Best Actress as well. Soororai Poottru also won the National Award for Best Feature Film.
Who will win?
Meanwhile, for this year’s awards, several names from Bollywood are also doing the rounds in the predictions. Chief among them are for Best Actress, where Alia Bhatt and Kangana Ranaut’s names are being considered for their turns in Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022) and Thalaivii (2021) respectively. Kangana is already a multiple National Award-winning actor, having won for one for Supporting Actress for Fashion (2008), and three for Best Actress, for the films Queen (2014), Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015), and Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi (2019) as well as Panga (2020) respectively. Alia, on the other hand, recently won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for Gangubai Kathiawadi
Renowned actor Allu Arjun has clinched the prestigious Best Actor award at the 69th National Film Awards, the winners of which were unveiled on Thursday. Allu Arjun earned this distinguished honour for his exceptional portrayal in the blockbuster movie ‘Pushpa: The Rise’. Arjun’s enthralling performance in ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ not only enthralled audiences but also garnered widespread critical acclaim, solidifying his reputation as a versatile and accomplished actor.
Besides this National Award, Allu Arjun boasts an impressive collection of accolades which includes six Filmfare Awards and three Nandi Awards.
Allu Arjun made his cinematic debut with ‘Gangotri’ in 2003. His breakthrough came with Sukumar’s iconic film ‘Arya’ (2004), for which he was honoured with a Nandi Special Jury Award.
Notably, he further strengthened his standing with impactful performances in action-packed movies like ‘Bunny’ (2005), ‘Desamuduru’ (2007), and the romantic drama ‘Parugu’ (2008), which earned him his first Filmfare Award for Best Actor – Telugu.
69th National Film Awards: Alia Bhatt And Kriti Sanon Share ‘Best Actress Award’
The National Film Awards 2023 have honoured two accomplished actresses with the coveted ‘Best Actress Award’ for their performances. Alia Bhatt, acclaimed for her role in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi,’ and Kriti Sanon, celebrated for her portrayal in ‘Mimi,’ both clinched the prestigious accolade.
Alia Bhatt was honoured with the National Award for Best Actress for her role in Gangubai Kathiawadi, which she shared with Kriti Sanon for Mimi. Allu Arjun was named the Best Actor for Pushpa: The Rise. The award for the best film on National Integration was claimed by The Kashmir Files.
Everyone was eagerly awaiting the announcement of the National Film Awards 2023, which took place today in Delhi. At the national awards, Sardar Udham, RRR, and Gangubai Kathiawadi took home major prizes. According to Neerja Sekhar, Additional Secretary, I&B, 158 non-feature films in 23 languages and a total of 280 feature films in 28 languages have been submitted for evaluation. The prizes were announced by director Ketan Mehta.
R Madhavan’s film Rocketery: The Nambi Effect secured the Best Feature Film award. Alia Bhatt was honoured with the National Award for Best Actress for her role in Gangubai Kathiawadi, which she shared with Kriti Sanon for Mimi. Allu Arjun was named the Best Actor for Pushpa: The Rise. The award for the best film on National Integration was claimed by The Kashmir Files. RRR bagged the National Award for Best Film providing wholesome entertainment, in addition to accolades for Action Direction, Choreography, and Special Effects. Shershaah was bestowed with a Special Jury Award.
