Sunny spoke about Gadar 2 in London
As quoted by news agency PTI, Sunny said, “Indians all over the world are celebrating this film, I can’t tell you how beautiful it is. I never expected it to be what it was, what it is right now. I believe that every man wants his wife to be like Sakeena and every woman wants her husband to be like Tara Singh. And, the family, the way they hold on together and fight off everything, that’s the basic USP (unique selling point) of the story.”
Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 continues to roar at the box office and how. The film has collected ₹ 410.70 crore within 13 days of its release, reports Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh. On Wednesday alone, the film earned a whopping ₹ 10 crore. Deconstructing the film’s box office collection so far, Taran Adarsh wrote on X (previously called Twitter), “While most films run out of fuel in Week 1 itself, Gadar2 continues its supremacy, scores in double digits even on Day 13 (second Wed)… (Week 2) Fri 20.50 cr, Sat 31.07 cr, Sun 38.90 cr, Mon 13.50 cr, Tue 12.10 cr, Wed 10 cr. Sunny Deol-starrer Gadar 2 is already the second-highest grosser of 2023 and it seems like the film is maintaining momentum into its third week. After 13 days in theatres, the film has made Rs 411.10 crore at the Indian box office, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. On its 13th day, the Anil Sharma film made Rs 10.40 crore (early estimates).
The film’s collections are especially impressive as it was made at a budget of Rs 60 crore. Anil recently told News 18 India, “We have made this film in the budget of just Rs 60 crore when people are talking about Rs 600 crore films.” Anil had previously said that Sunny reduced his fee for the sake of the film. He also shared that since they were working with limited budget, they did not put up any sets for the period film and did not use any visual effects.
Gadar 2 is trailing behind Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan which made Rs 543.05 crore during its run in Indian theatres. Pathaan became the biggest grosser of the year after its release in January. It seems likely that Gadar 2 will surpass Pathaan’s domestic collection.
